YATI is Bengaluru's own traffic solution that provides real-time traffic intelligence, route planning, and community-powered traffic reporting. This Privacy Policy explains what data we handle, how we use it, and how your privacy is protected.

2. Data Storage & Collection

Data Stored Locally (We Do NOT Collect This):

  • Your route search history and preferences
  • Map view settings and customizations
  • App theme and display preferences
  • Voice input data for search (processed locally, not stored)
  • All your navigation and traffic viewing preferences

This data remains exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Data We Collect via Backend Services:

  • Authentication Data: Username, email address when you create an account
  • Traffic Reports: Traffic incident reports you submit (location, type, severity, description) - stored in our backend database
  • Vote Data: Your upvotes/downvotes on community traffic reports
  • User Trust Data: Your trust level and report verification history
  • App Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics for service improvement
  • Technical Information: Browser type, device information for compatibility
3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used strictly to enhance your traffic navigation experience:

  • Provide real-time traffic conditions and route suggestions
  • Process and display community traffic reports stored in our backend
  • Calculate optimal routes using time-based intelligence
  • Enable secure user authentication and account management
  • Improve traffic prediction accuracy and service reliability
  • Maintain community trust scores and report verification system
  • Send email notifications for account verification and password resets

YATI does not sell, share, or misuse your personal data.

4. Data Storage & Security

Local Data Storage:

  • All your personal preferences and search history are stored locally on your device
  • No personal navigation data or route history is transmitted to external servers
  • You maintain complete control over your local data - clearing browser data removes all local information

Backend Data Storage:

  • User accounts and authentication data stored securely in our WordPress database
  • All traffic reports submitted by users stored in backend database tables (btw_traffic_reports)
  • User voting data and trust scores stored in backend database
  • All data transfers are encrypted in transit using HTTPS
  • Traffic reports show only username for attribution, no personal contact information
  • Location data in reports is used solely for traffic mapping and route planning
5. Third-Party Services

YATI uses the following third-party services:

  • OpenStreetMap: For map data and route visualization
  • OSRM Routing Engine: For free route calculation services
  • Font Awesome: For consistent UI icons and elements
  • Google Fonts: For improved typography and readability

These services have their own privacy policies governing data handling.

6. Your Rights & Controls

You are in full control of your YATI data. You can:

  • Submit, edit, or delete your traffic reports at any time
  • Vote on community reports to improve accuracy
  • Use guest mode without creating an account
  • Clear your local search history and preferences
  • Delete your account and associated backend data
  • Choose not to submit traffic reports while still using the service
  • Control what personal information you share in your profile
7. Traffic Reports & Backend Storage

When you submit traffic reports, they are stored in our backend database and used to help all YATI users. Your reports include location, issue type, and optional description. These reports are visible to other users but only show your username (or "Anonymous" if guest). Reports are used to generate real-time traffic intelligence and improve route planning for the entire community.

8. Voice Search

Voice search functionality processes your audio input locally in your browser. No voice data is stored or transmitted to our servers. The audio is converted to text locally and only the text query is used for search operations.

9. Email Communications

We use email only for essential account-related communications:

  • Account verification codes during registration
  • Password reset requests and confirmations
  • Critical service announcements (rarely)

We do not send promotional emails or share your email with third parties.

10. Children's Privacy

YATI is designed for general traffic navigation use. It is not targeted at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features or compliance requirements. Updates will be published here with a revised date. Continued use of YATI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
